Maša Iskra

Maša Iskra is a doctoral researcher in the Department of Performance Psychophysiology at the German Sport University Cologne (DSHS). Her PhD project investigates how psychophysiological activation elicited through slow- and fast-paced breathing influences decision-making processes, with a particular focus on the interplay between autonomic regulation, embodied cognition, and performance under pressure.
Her broader research interests include paced breathing techniques, motor-cognitive performance, embodied cognition, and decision processes in both everyday life and sport contexts. Taking a physiological approach to cognition, Maša's methodological expertise spans ECG, ICG, skin conductance, and respiration analysis, complemented by skills in evidence synthesis, including meta-analyses, systematic reviews, and scoping reviews.
Maša also contributes to research on respiratory-driven modulation of autonomic activity and cardiac vagal regulation. She is completing her PhD within the Embodied Choices Graduate School Cologne, where her work bridges psychophysiology, behavioral science, and applied performance research.
