Amelie Gerhardt

B. Sc. Sport and Performance

Amelie Gerhardt currently studies at the German Sports University (Deutsch Sporthochschule Köln) in her 4th Semester and is expected to finish her Bachelor's Degree in "Sport and Performance" (SUL) in September of 2027. Within her Bachelor she focuses on the intersection of performance, psychology and sport science, also in part of training methods in elite and amateur sports. She's particular interested in how the psychological process influences each performance.

As part of her studies, she's working in the HRV LABorde to gain valuable inside in the field of psychophysiology. She is looking forward to gain practical and research experience regarding Heart Rate Variability, breathing techniques or the regulation of cognitive and emotional processes.

Amelie is playing tennis competitively since a young age. Through her own sporting career in an individual sport in which the mental aspect plays a huge role, she's always been in interested in the motivational processes, the resilience and the psychological demands that impact one's performance immensely. By also working as a coach in different sports she learned about the importance of the psychological aspect first hand.

Therefore, on the long term her goal is to help other athletes, teams and coaches to understand the mechanisms behind psychophysiology and how the combination of individualized mental training, emotional intelligence, stress regulation and decision-making can influence well-being as well as performance.
