Johannes Fischer

B. Sc. Sport and Performance

Johannes Fischer is a Bachelor's student at the German Sport University Cologne, studying Sport and Performance. After completing his Bachelor's degree, he aims to pursue his Master's in Psychology in Sports and Exercise at the same university.

Within his current Bachelor's program, his focus lies on the psychology of elite athletes. He is particularly interested in how far mental influence can help bring out the best in a person, improving athletic performance and making the decisive difference against the competition.

To complement his studies, Johannes decided to join Sylvain Laborde's team to gain deeper insights into the work of research groups, as well as practical experience and insights from leading scientists. His interest in HRV is driven by personal curiosity and reflects his passion for elite sport and psychology, and for the connection between brain and body.

Johannes himself comes from chess, before switching to martial arts as a teenager (first Hapkido, now kickboxing). He continues to pursue his academic interests in his free time. Within these settings, he has also worked as a coach for children aged 5 to 15. In addition, he volunteers for Balu und Du, mentoring children in need of support in a one-to-one format.

His goal is to understand the human psyche in sporting contexts, to put these insights into practice, and to help elite athletes reach the last percentage points of their potential. Through this work, he also hopes to contribute new knowledge to science and to learn from others.
